94 Cashel Mall
94 Cashel Mall
Commercial & Retail
Acknowledging the past with a nod to the Italian Architect Carlo Scarpa, this long narrow building is a reminder of the scale and grain of pre-earthquake Christchurch. The local council wanted a two storey building but the owners only wanted to build single level to replace the building on site they once had. So it is "the little building that wanted to be bigger."
We designed the building to look larger than it was with the vertically projecting copper clad oriel window, and we have crafted the Cashel Mall façade with different textures of precast concrete.
This building received an NZIA award for Architecture.
