Water House wins House of the Year Award
2021 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards
Water House was awarded Gold and Best in Category at the Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
Congratulations to Clive Barrington Construction for winning a Gold Award and Best in Category (Canterbury New Home $1.5-2m) for the Dalman Architects designed Water House at the Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
"Idyllically located on the edge of the Avon Heathcote Estuary, this four-bedroom, 353sqm home extends over the water, taking full advantage of its enviable position to offer informal seaside living. To maximise the water views, the open-plan living and dining areas feature continuous glazing, affording a floor-to-ceiling outlook across the estuary to South Brighton Spit, Sumner Bar and the ocean beyond. The main window is the largest double-glazed unit produced for a Christchurch residence, allowing the homeowners to take in the picture-postcard scenery beyond. The partially covered, central courtyard provides a sunny, sheltered retreat protected from the prevailing easterly wind, yet still capturing the estuary vista. The main bedroom is situated on the upper level to capitalise on the view, and the home office looks across the courtyard, through the living-room glazing and out to the water. As this is an architect’s own home, the effort to achieve a meticulous finish was great and is evidenced in the crisp, contemporary detailing throughout."
